BIRDS AT
THE BAYSIDE
On
the warm and sunny evening of July 16th
the T-birds did literally descend on the new Bayside Sports Grille on
Walled
Lake.
Yes, in numbers over 80, we did flock to our reserved deck to socialize with
friends old and new. If you have never been to this location, it sits on the
north shore of the lake. Being on the deck and looking out over the water with a
few boats going by as the sun goes down, is truly an inspiring sight. Add a
great event, bringing out both friends that we see regularly, and those that we
have not seen for a while, and you’ve really got something to celebrate! Past
President Rich Eggen, and wife Lori, a past board member herself, were among
those we hadn’t seen for quite awhile, and are so glad decided to come out to
help make this event so successful. Of course, it didn’t hurt that we were
partying “in their backyard”, so to speak. Another ‘bird that we hadn’t seen
lately was Bob Thomas, whose backyard we were in! Perhaps with more Nor’western
socials we would see more of those currently incommunicado.
The people at the Bayside were very good to us in
offering BIG discounts on Margaritas, Daiquiris, Wine, and beer both domestic
and imported. I think we did overwhelm them a bit, though. I told them to plan
for a social of 70, but I don’t think they knew what a “T-bird Social” means.
With our group more resembling two year olds, unable to sit still for two
minutes, we presented quite a challenge for their wait staff. However, they
worked real hard to please us, and everybody came away happy and smiling for
such a great evening with great friends. By the way, if you liked the Bayside,
try out the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday entertainment. Each night is
different and sure to please.
Thanks to all who attended and made this such an
enjoyable evening.
