TBirds Rock
to “Jersey Boys”
It was a great day for the TBirds to
see “Jersey Boys” at the Fisher Theatre on January 3rd. It was nice to
see some of our friends from the Jug & Mug Ski Club in Lansing who have
been frequenting our theater outings. After
selling out the first batch of 25 tickets in one day’s time it was
decided to get a second batch of 20 tickets, half of which were also
sold in one day’s time. After all
the tickets were sold out some TBirds ended up getting tickets on their
own. We ended up with about 55 people enjoying the event!
The Four Seasons, one of many group names for them, grew up in front of
our eyes. They struggled with personal issues and as a group trying to
survive. They started as a trio when they were teens and sang in lounges
and background for groups. There always seemed to be an obstacle in
their way until one day they were heard. After that everything is
history. Years later Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons were inducted
into the Music Hall of Fame. The Jersey Boys performers were great and
sounded like the original Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Everyone
rocked to the music.
Being that some of us are from the q-tip generation (grey hairs) the
music brought back memories of the days when we listened to them on the
radio or on records. I understand that some of our group listened to the
sound track on the way down and were already pumped when they got there.
After the performance we were off to Union Street Saloon on Woodward. It
was casual dining but the food and wine was great. We had such a large
group that I hope I didn’t miss talking to anyone.
I want to say thank you to the people in the Theater Group who make the
outings a success. |
