| A new year, a new beginning.
Seventy plus TBirds welcomed in the new year at Deluca’s Italian
Restaurant in Westland on Wednesday, January 6, 2010.
Food at Deluca’s is always tasty with generous portions.
Unfortunately, they under estimated the number of wait staff needed for
our group. Restaurant
owners/managers never believe us when we say our socials generally draw
between 40 and 60 people. Since it was a social, most people sat back,
relaxed with an adult beverage and enjoyed the company of fellow TBirds
while they waited to be served. Most
TBirds are expert at rolling with the punches. Many regular attendees were there as well as some new faces. A young couple interested in the race team, friends of current members and other Detroit area ski club members picking up their materials for the upcoming Beaver Creek ski trip joined in on the fun. Ms. Fitzgerald had to gain the attention of the enthusiastic, chatty crowd and remind them to sit down if they wished to order dinner. TBirds love to talk and socialize! Our Prez, Ron Glo, held a very brief meeting. It was a record for him to be under five minutes! Ron talked about upcoming ski trips, a golf outing and the beginning of nominations for the new Board of Directors. It is a new year with new opportunities for you to meet new people, experience new places and activities, volunteer to run an event or simply join the TBirds if you aren’t a member yet. |
