Splendid
Night at Nankin Mills
It was a great evening for
a Thunderbird Picnic put on by the Players, the Theater Group and the Supper
Club. The weather was perfect: not too hot with a little breeze and best of all
no rain. Over 200 members and their guests decided to come out for a night of
fun and relaxation!
The evening start out as it usually does with everyone mingling, enjoying some
beer, wine or soda and loosening up and winding down from a long day at work or
play (for those who don’t have anything better to do like the retirees.)
Checks were flying for a lot of the upcoming events such as the River Cruise,
Tiger game and theater. It seemed like everybody was starting to get interested
in the ski trips coming up this winter. I don’t know how many times I was asked:
“What trips are you going on?” I hope
that everyone signs up soon in order to get the trip they want since trips are
filling fast.
Thanks to our gourmet chefs (Dan Larsh, Mike Baran, Bob McCullough, Bob Simpson
and Chris Gentile) we had a great dinner of marinated chicken with rice, corn
and salad, and you can’t forget the dessert. The food must have been good
because at one point I saw the line going three quarters of the way around the
shelter.
After everyone had enough to eat the entertainment started with Rob Bialowicz
and Mike McClinchey playing guitars and singing along and Greg Adamchuck
accompanying with his electronic drums. I have never seen so many TBirds dancing
at a picnic; the 3 entertainers had the house rocking! Good work guys. Maybe we
can get the three of you to play again sometime. It was a splendid evening!!!
A number of people were already talking about the chili cook-off picnic next
September 2nd at Ford Field. It’s time to get your recipes out for your favorite
chili and sign up now! DON’T MISS THE
LAST PICNIC OF THE YEAR!
