The “Thunderbird
Ski
School” was
originally founded in 1973.
Local ski lessons were provided at Mt
Brighton on Monday nights. Lessons were also a major part of the
Beginners Weekend Ski Trip. The school started with approximately 20
instructors, and increased in size to almost 100 instructors in the
1990s. With the addition of snowboarding lessons, the name was changed
to the “Ski and
Snowboard
School.”
In 2003, the name was revised to its current SnowSports
School with approximately 50 instructors.
In 2007, Steve Vollmer assumed the duty of
Director with assistance from Steve Smith and Doo Ming Yee.
